Tips & Tricks
The three items will invaluable throughout the game. Item-1 is a levitation platform which can used to get to greater heights; up to three can be on screen at the same time. You'll get that item after defeating Heat Man. Item-2, which is acquired after defeating Air Man, is a Jet Sled which is used to fly for a short period of time. Item-3 is yours when you defeat Flash Man; it's an Elevator which can be used to scale walls.
Totally useless tip: Right after you choose a Boss in the Stage select screen, hold down the A button. Instead of the normal stars and meteors, you'll see flying fish. No effect on the game whatsoever, but funny.
![]() Weapon : Air Shooter Weakness : Plasma Cannon |
Althought he is the first one to be tackled, don't be fooled, his stage is no pushover! Lots of precise jumping to do, either on Air Tiki (jump when the horns are down), or platforms (shoot the L. Lord with two gun shots). |
![]() Weapon : Metal Blades
|
Metal Man's stage has two energy cans. One can be gathered by taking the low road on the conveyor belt, and one can be found near the end of the stage, but you'll need the Jet Sled to get back out. You'll get the Metal Blades from Metal Man, one of the most versatile weapons around. |
![]() Weapon : Bubble Lead
|
This stage is one of the nicest ones you'll see in this game. Not to many enemies to oppose you, but lots of precision jumping to do. Most of the stage is underwater and, let's face it, Mega Man swims like a Rock. Be careful when jumping, as Mega Man can easily reach that cealing. |
![]() Weapon : Atomic Fire
|
Cut Blades will prove an invaluable weapon in this stage, killing many robots who come at you from different directions. Magic blocks are back, but they pale in relation to Ice Man stage (see Mega Man 1) Having Item-2 is recommended for this stage; if you don't have it, you'll have a whole lot of blocks to clear… |
![]() Weapon Leaf Shield
|
Woodman's stage is a bit long, with lots of robots along the way, but most of them can be handled with the Metal Blades. As for the atomic chickens, just get close to a wall, and they will jump right over. |
![]() Weapon : Crash Bombers
|
This introduces the interesting concept of conveyor belts. Best thing to do is to turn on the Leaf Shield, and not move. You should make it to the top of the screen. Also, you will be faced by a pair ladders later in the game; choose the left one, as it leads to an energy can. |
![]() Weapon : Time Stopper
|
This slippery stage can get complicated, though I have found that jumping stops Mega Man from sliding. General tip, try to keep to higher corridors, even if you have to blow up a few doors (using Crash bombers). Energy cans and Bonus Lives await you later on. |
![]() Weapon : Quick Boomerang
|
Stage starts with an easy life, but goes downhill after that. After defeating the Hotheads, you will have to face the lasers. This is perhaps one of the hardest spots you'll face in this game; use flash weapon AFTER moving down from the first screen. You'll then have enough time to go down the remaining screens. |
Dr. Wily's Castle
Stage One
![]() Boss : Mecha Dragon
|
This Stage requires extensive use of the items Mega Man picked up during the previous stages, especially #1 and #3. The rest of the stage is filled by many lesser ennemies and a few Snipper Joes, so nothing to be excited about; though the boss is one for the books! The dragon is impressing graphic wise, and the fact you must fight him on blocks doesn't help. |
Stage Two
![]() Weakness : Metal Blades or Quick Boomerang |
In this stage, you will have to use the Jet Sled. When you do, do not jump up the first ladder but wait for a second one. You will be rewarded by an ample reserve of energy and a life. Recharge all your weapons and yourself with the Stalactite ans Stalagmite screws. |
Stage Three
![]() Weakness : Quick Boomerang |
You begin the stage with the opportunity to gather up some power ups; take advantage of it, as they'll get more scarce as you go along. As you go through the underwater sequence you will have to free fall, with spikes to both sides. Avoid moving too suddenly, or you'll end up on the opposite wall. Gutsdozer is a push-over; just shoot his head with some Quick Boomerangs as you stand on the ledge of the vehicule. |
Stage Four | As you walk around this stage, you might sometimes fall as there are some spots without floor. Use Item-1 tu jump back up. The platforms are back, but they are much harder than they were in the Crash Man stage. A small screen shot of what you'll face is included here. Use the Metal Blades to defend yourself a top the platforms. To defeat the shooting bubbles, first use Crash Bombers to destroy the walls. Then let Mega Man die. On the way back, recharge the Crash Bomber; when you get to the boss, the walls will be gone. Use Crash bombers to eliminate the unprotected bubbles. |
Stage Five
![]() Boss : Dr Wily's Flying Machine Weakness : Crash Bombers and Metal blades |
You have to fight the bosses again; the following screenshot shows which pods represents which boss. Once you know which weapon is their weakness, the bosses aren't that much trouble. You then face Dr. Wily; his vehicule is vulnerable to Crash Bombers and Metal Blades. You'll have to beat it twice. |
Stage Six
![]() Weakness : Bubble Lead |
As you pursue Dr. Wily, look out for the dropping acid. When you met up with Dr. Wily, he will transform into an alien. Use the Bubble Lead; 13 or 14 shoots should do it. Be careful not to touch him, as it will costs you a lot of energy. |
